20/20 MDS® Workshop Kit: Developing Teams-Advanced
In the course Developing Teams 1, we looked at a number of foundational building blocks in helping to establish a strong team. This included what makes a team effective, forming and managing a team (including stages in a typical team’s life) and establishing team development objectives.
This Developing Team-Advanced course will build upon the themes we introduced in Developing Teams 1. It will do this in two main ways:
- Firstly, in part 1 of the module, we will add some “flesh” to the bones we covered in terms of what makes a team effective. This will include the establishment of a sound vision and mission as well as goals for the team. It will also include some discussion of how we might go about creating clarity around individual team roles.
- Secondly, in part 2 of the module, we will look in detail at the “management team roles” model (or MTR-I in short) that was only touched upon briefly in the first module. This will provide a very useful action-based process that team leaders can use again and again. This section will also provide further information on the results attained by taking the MTR-I assessment.

At the end of this module you will be able to:
- establish productive, constructive relationships with team members, colleagues and customers
- Understand how teams come together successfully and ideally in a planned way to achieve the key goals or strategies of the enterprise.
- Make use of the forming, storming, normal and performing model to help diagnose team development needs.
- Appreciate how to provide teams with the support and resources that they need to become as effective as possible.
- Identify the ideal team behaviours that are likely to be most needed in order to perform at an optimal level.
- Utilise the Management Team Roles model to help optimise individual and collective contributions to medium to long-term team success
