Effective communication involves both receptive and expressive components. Effective expressive communication is about conveying the message to others clearly, concisely and elegantly. On the receptive side, however, it is about receiving information, paying close attention and minimizing distortion. Communication is only successful when both the sender and the receiver understand the same information as a result of the communication.
