All projects have a beginning, a middle and an end. The job of the project manager is to make sure that each of these phases follows the previous one smoothly and delivers the expected result. However, project management is not the domain of one project manager alone. It generally involves the coordinated efforts of several people to ensure that their particular parts of the project are successfully performed. This makes project management quite distinct from operational management, which tends to be characterized by activities that are ongoing and repetitive.
