The LMAT™ is a comprehensive cognitive perception assessment instrument specifically designed to evaluate mental agility needed to perform successfully in management and leadership positions. The LMAT™ includes five sub-tests, four of which are timed

  • LMAT™ (complete)

  • MAT™ (Leadership Scenario test)

The Leadership and Management Aptitude Test (LMAT™) is a new Cognitive perception assessment specifically designed to evaluate mental agility needed to perform successfully in management and leadership positions. The LMAT™ has five sections, each of which links to specific leadership and/or management skills or competencies. The test itself has four forms and five independent but related sections. The table below describes these sections and what they assess:

Section of the LMAT™ Linked Management/Leadership Competencies
Verbal Reasoning Verbal reasoning is most linked to a manager or leader’s communication and influencing skills.
Numeric Reasoning Numeric reasoning is most linked to a manager or leader’s computational and analytical skills.
Logical Reasoning Logical reasoning is most linked to a manager or leader’s problem- solving and decision-making skills.
Visual-Spatial Reasoning Visual-Spatial reasoning is most linked to a manager or leader’s abstract reasoning ability and creativity.
Scenario-based Reasoning Scenario-based reasoning is most linked to a manager or leader’s information assimilation, judgement and perception skills.

Although the LMAT™ uses similar categories to most of the other mainstream tests of cognitive ability, it differs in that it uses workplace or business oriented questions and scenarios that are highly valid in determining leadership and management capability.

The Leadership and Management Aptitude Test™ or LMAT™ was developed by Dr Jon Warner and Anne Sandberg, both senior occupational psychologists with the assistance of two researchers and developers from the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA).
This Leadership and Management Aptitude Test is designed to be used to assist in assessing an individual's readiness and ability in leadership and management roles through an assessment of various cognitive and reasoning skills.  It has been used most frequently to measure readiness for management training programs, and to assist coaches and mentors in identifying areas of development for new and aspiring managers.
This online assessment is delivered via the internet. At the completion of your purchase, you will be provided with a web link (website address) and a password to access your assessment.

At the conclusion of the assessment, be sure to download your personal report and development resources.
