In business, or in any organisation, in the same way as sport, coaching is fundamentally concerned with helping people to learn to develop themselves. The process usually involves working closely with an individual to identify areas in which he or she may stretch him or herself or improve, and then developing skills or competencies on the job. Good coaching is consequently not about telling other people what to do, or how to develop, but instead about focusing the individual on his or her own development goals and helping them to achieve them.

This module is the second or advanced level course on this topic. It will focus on coaching people and getting the best out of others. It will help you to explore different strategies for building and maintaining effective relationships. It will also explore different ways in which you can deal constructively with those difficult situations that will arise and with those awkward people whom you are bound to meet; whether these are customers, colleagues or staff - the people you are responsible for developing.

The 20-20 MDS® series by WCOD is a management and leadership development program designed for professionals seeking to improve their management and leadership skills to help them reach their potential in the work world.  Until now, the courses and workshops in this program were only available as a complete course of study within an accredited program.  WCOD has recently begun making the eLearning courses and workshops from this management and leadership development program available to learners, trainers, coaches and consultants on a course-by-course basis.
