Effective Coaching
This storyboard mini-facilitator guide looks at the specific skills that effective coaches should have in order to be most successful. In business, or in any organization, in the same way as sport, coaching is fundamentally concerned with helping people to learn to develop themselves. The process usually involves them identifying areas in need of improvement and then developing skills or competencies on the job, undertaking informal or formal “training” sessions or even taking on higher education. Good coaching is therefore not about developing other people, but focusing them on their own development goals and helping them to achieve them.
This topic is presented in four stages. These sequential stages consist of:
- Understand or gather data and start planning the coaching journey ahead.
- Assess or evaluate different methods or approaches to coaching that you could utilise.
- Implement or start to build long-term relationships with the people you are coaching.
- Monitor or the on-going review of the relationship and what emerges as being in most need of attention or focus in the coaching conversation.
The One Page Coach® family of products was designed for trainers, facilitators, coaches, mentors and others responsible for guiding individuals on their learning journey.
